You’ve probably been debating which season would be best to get your senior pictures done during. Fall? Spring? Summer? Having a summer senior session in Oklahoma City has a lot of pros, which is why I want to share my 5 top reasons to have a summer session.

1. Scheduling a summer senior session in Oklahoma City gets you the best dates and times that work for you.

When scheduling a summer senior session in Oklahoma City, chances are that your photographer will have less scheduling conflicts. You won’t be in school yet, so you might even have more free time to work with as well. This gives you the opportunity to find a date and time that works best for both of you. 

Not only are you getting to pick an ideal time, with less scheduling conflicts, you’re also checking something off your to-do list early. This will take a lot of stress off your plate when school starts, which is always a good idea for your senior year. 

Most schools have a yearbook deadline, and scheduling early gives you plenty of time to reach that deadline. You’ll have the advantage of taking your time to pick your favorite pictures and, if you’re indecisive like me, that extra time is precious!

Having a summer senior session means if an emergency arises or weather is not cooperating you will still have time to reschedule. We’ve all been there. It wasn’t supposed to rain, your car just got a flat. These things happen to everyone and let’s not let it ruin your senior session.

2. If you play sports, it’s better to schedule a summer senior session before your sports season begins.

This kind of goes along with my first reason for a summer senior session in Oklahoma City, but I think it’s an important one to make a priority. A lot of us play sports and our senior year is a big deal. You don’t want your senior pictures to conflict with your sports schedule. And we all know that sports can take up a lot of your free time. Do yourself a favor and schedule your senior sessions when you don’t have to work around your chaotic sports schedule. 

3. Greenery and golden hour are beautiful in the summer

A lot of us love summer for a reason. Everything is green and beautiful. Having a summer senior session in Oklahoma City gives you the opportunity to take advantage of the greenery and add so much color to your pictures.

One of my favorite places to take pictures in the summer is Myriad gardens. The flowers are in full bloom during the summer and everything is just vibrant and beautiful. This can be a great place for you to start your senior session, as it’s in the middle of the city, and then move on to another location.

Not only is everything more green in the summer, but the days are longer as well. This gives you more sunlight during the day and a longer golden hour. We all love a good golden hour picture and having them in your summer senior session is a no-brainer. 

4. It’s warm outside

Getting your pictures done in warm weather is such a positive in my opinion. I know booking in the summer can seem scary, considering Oklahoma can have some hot summers. But if you book a session early morning or late evening you’ll be avoiding the heat of the day and taking advantage of golden hour.

Another concern I hear about booking in the summer is ‘Will my makeup run in the heat’? If you choose to book with me, professional hair and makeup are already included. You won’t have to worry about your hair not staying or your makeup running. 

Two of my go to locations when it’s warm outside are Paseo District and Plaza District. There are a lot of shaded areas and the colors just seem to pop in the summer.  If you want a vibrant and urban feel to your senior pictures I highly recommend checking both of these out.

5. You’ll have photos for graduation invitations or announcements

Having a summer senior session in Oklahoma City gives you the opportunity to get a head start on your graduation invitations or announcements. Typically, invitations are sent out about a month or 2 in advance. If your pictures are done in the summer you have all of fall and winter to choose your invite design and send them out. Just another thing for you to check off your to do list and avoid stressing about for your senior year!

Your senior year is an exciting and busy time. Taking advantage of a summer senior session could take a lot of stress off your plate and land you some pretty amazing senior photos.
